Before Delivery Day: Site Prep Checklist
A smooth delivery day depends on site preparation done in advance. Walk through these items at least one week before your scheduled delivery.
Access route: measure every point along the path from the street to your hot tub location. The minimum clearance for most hot tubs is 36 inches (90cm) width and 7 feet (2.1m) height clearance for any overhead obstacles. Gates must be removable if they do not swing wide enough - this is a five-minute task that prevents a day-of delivery problem.
Pad: your concrete slab, compacted gravel pad, or reinforced deck should be complete and cured (48 hours minimum for new concrete) before delivery. We will not place a hot tub on a wet concrete pad.
Electrical: for 240V models, your electrician should have the disconnect box and wiring in place before delivery. We do the electrical connection on delivery day if the circuit is ready - if it is not, we place the hot tub but cannot fill and start it until the electrical is complete.

Delivery Day: What We Do
Our delivery team arrives on a flatbed trailer with the hot tub loaded and covered. We carry a motorized dolly system that allows us to move the tub across most surfaces without damage to your property - we lay down protection boards on grass or soft surfaces as needed.
We position the tub on your pad, check it is level (important for cover fit and long-term wear), and connect the pack cover panel to the disconnect box your electrician has installed. For DreamMaker plug-and-play models, we connect to your exterior outlet directly.
First fill is done through the filter housing, not the footwell, to minimize air lock in the plumbing lines. Fill time is 15-30 minutes depending on water pressure and hot tub size. We run the pumps to verify all jets are functioning, heater is working, and there are no leaks at any plumbing connections.
Spa School: Your Same-Day Training
Once the hot tub is running, we walk you through Spa School - our owner orientation covering everything you need to run and maintain your hot tub correctly. This is not a quick overview; we spend 30-45 minutes making sure you understand your unit.
We cover: how to operate the topside controls and set your desired temperature; filter cleaning schedule and procedure; water chemistry basics (pH, alkalinity, sanitizer) and what products to use; how to read and use your chemical test strips or test kit; cover care and how to extend its life; when to call us versus when to troubleshoot yourself.
We want you to be genuinely confident maintaining your hot tub, not dependent on us for routine questions. Our team is always available by phone, but owners who understand their chemistry baseline have far fewer issues over the first year.

After Delivery: Your First Week
Your hot tub will reach setpoint temperature within 4-8 hours (240V models) or 12-24 hours (120V plug-and-play). Do not open the cover repeatedly during heat-up - each time you lift the cover you lose significant heat and extend the time to setpoint.
Test and balance your water chemistry 24 hours after fill using the test kit we provide. Initial balancing typically requires adding alkalinity increaser and pH adjuster before adding sanitizer. This first balance takes 15-20 minutes. After that, a 3-minute weekly test routine keeps everything in range.
If you have any issues in the first 30 days - a jet that is not functioning, an error code on the display, anything that does not seem right - call us immediately. Issues are almost always simple to resolve and we would rather hear from you on day 3 than day 30.
Frequently Asked Questions
How wide does my gate need to be for hot tub delivery in Hamilton?
The minimum gate clearance for most standard hot tubs is 36 inches (90cm). Larger models may require 40-48 inches. If your gate is narrower, we can often remove it temporarily - most backyard gates are hung with pin hinges that allow removal in minutes. Always tell us your access situation when booking delivery so we can plan appropriately.
Do I need to be home for the hot tub delivery?
Yes. The owner or a designated adult representative needs to be present for delivery, first fill, and Spa School. The delivery takes 2-3 hours from arrival to completion. We will confirm a delivery window the business day before your scheduled delivery.
What if it rains on delivery day?
Light rain does not affect delivery - hot tubs are designed to be outdoors permanently. In the case of heavy rain, significant snow, or conditions that make moving the unit unsafe on your property, we will reschedule to the next available slot. We call you if conditions are borderline.
